On her next batch of visits to some of our British boarding schools, it was a return to Oxford for Gina. She and the business used to be based in this beautiful, historic home of education, so she knows St Clare’s well already, but it was great to catch up with key staff and the latest developments.
Offering Pre-IB, the IB Diploma and other 6th Form courses, this is an international college in a quintessentially English setting.
Gina’s recent trip out to visit some of the British boarding schools we recommend in England’s Midlands ended at Worksop College.
Gina’s mini Midlands odyssey took her from Uppingham to Oakham School, another traditional, English boarding school, founded in 1584 in the historic market town of Oakham near Rutland Water. As well as A Levels, the school has been offering the IB Diploma for 15 years now, and ca. 25% of its IB candidates achieve 40 points or more!
On Gina’s recent visit to the famous British boarding school, Uppingham, she was impressed by the brand-new Science Centre and well-equipped Sports Centre. The creative arts are also well supported, with excellent provision for Art and Theatre, while Music is woven into the very fabric of the school community. Central to school life are the 15 boarding houses, each with its own dining room, as Uppingham is 99% boarding!
