How were British boarding schools’ 2023 exam results?

While all our British boarding schools nurture enterprise via Business Studies and/or Economics courses, as well as entering students into schemes such as the Young Enterprise programme, I was struck by recent news from Charterhouse.
Taunton School is in the midst of a £20million development project. Work started early this year, with the new sixth-form centre and students’ library already completed and in use. Still to come are enhanced sports facilities, a brand-new international school on the main campus, and the creation of a green and sustainable pedestrianised hub linking boarding houses, teaching and dining blocks.
While some UK schools reopened to limited numbers of pupils on Monday 1st June, for most the new term sees them resuming their home-based online learning. This is being delivered in a number of ways over a variety of digital platforms, so we thought we’d feature a few examples.
The Sixth Form is the pinnacle of any school. Bridging that gap between childhood and adulthood, preparing the young people in their care for arguably some of the toughest exams of their lives and for life beyond school, all the British boarding schools we work with challenge their Sixth Form students to achieve their potential and be excellent role models for their younger pupils.
At British schools, the Headmaster or Headmistress is not the only head of school. One or more representative from their last year at school is elected or appointed Head Girl and/or Head Boy.
The reasons families choose British boarding schools for their children’s educations are many and varied. Here we focus on the excellent support that potential medical students can receive, using Stonyhurst College’s MedSoc 2020 as an example.
Throughout this academic year, Stonyhurst’s Year 12/Lower 6th students have attended a number of sessions organised by the College’s Careers Advisor, in order to prepare them for making strong, competitive medical school applications.
The latest newsletter from Bede’s, a British boarding school in the south east of England, includes a feature about its diploma programme, which we thought would make an interesting addition to our blog.
The external qualifications offered in Bede’s Sixth Form are A Level, Pre-U and BTEC. Alongside studying for those exams, all pupils undertake a holistic enrichment programme, the Bede’s Diploma, which has four elements: Extend, Enrich, Enlighten and Enhance.
Following on from our recent guide to British Sixth Form study, we thought it might be helpful to zero in on the options available at boarding schools in Scotland.
Roedean School has recently upcycled an existing boarding house with study facilities for Year 13 students into a Sixth Form Centre where both Year 12 and Year 13 students can socialise and study.
