Campus development at Taunton School

Taunton School is in the midst of a £20million development project. Work started early this year, with the new sixth-form centre and students’ library already completed and in use. Still to come are enhanced sports facilities, a brand-new international school on the main campus, and the creation of a green and sustainable pedestrianised hub linking boarding houses, teaching and dining blocks.

Year 11 and Year 12 students helped with the décor of the sixth-form study centre, which has transformed rooms within the historic Gothic main building of this British boarding school into a bright, airy space, with study pods, a social area and gender-neutral toilets.

Meanwhile, former dining space in the same building has been transformed into a modern library and study zone. Containing 25,000 books, the library is accurately described by Head student Isabel Hogevold as having: “… seamlessly integrated modern 21st century learning with the history and heritage of our school.”

Now work has started on the creation of a ‘Green Heart’ in the centre of the campus. Asphalt roads and paths between the Pre-Prep, Prep and Senior schools will be transformed into an eco-friendly pedestrianised area. Including trees, plants, seating and sensory areas, it will provide a place to relax and socialise, and promote student wellbeing.

Already popular with our clients for its breadth of offering, with an international school and a sixth form that caters for the IB as well as A Levels, its sporting excellence, and for its sense of community, all these developments can only serve to enhance this super boarding school in England.
