Results

We have been enjoying receiving news of some excellent International Baccalaureate Diploma (IB) results from our British boarding schools.

While summertime is generally quiet, with pupils and teachers enjoying their well-deserved holidays, it is crunch time for all those who sat their IB diploma, A Level, Scottish Highers and GCSE papers before the end of term. So, how are British boarding schools’ exam results this year?

IB results are the first to be released in July, and we received good news of student success from several of the schools that offer this qualification. 

International Baccalaureate scores are the first external examination results released each year, in early July. As usual, the British boarding schools we work with have done very well, with their students exceeding the global average score of 31.98 out of a possible maximum of 45.

The IB programme is offered by over 3,000 schools all over the world and 170,000 candidates are entered for the diploma each year.

As the new academic year gets underway, we’d like to recognise the achievements of students who got their exam results over the summer. Always newsworthy, this past two years’ grades have generated even closer scrutiny due to disruption caused by the pandemic.

August is all about A Level and GCSE results, and with so much good news coming in from the British boarding schools we recommend, we’re pleased to pass on some highlights from just a couple of the schools that shared theirs with us.

While the summer holidays can be an anxious time for those awaiting their A Level results in August, International Baccalaureate Diploma students already know their fate, having received their results on Saturday 6^th July. A good number of the British boarding schools we recommend offer the IB and a couple have shared those results with us.

August can seem a funny month in education. Some of the British boarding schools we work with are closed altogether, with just a skeleton staff in place to handle enquiries and, in some cases, host events, while others are abuzz with summer schools welcoming children from all over the world. At this point in the month, however, it starts to feel like business as usual, as the schools and, more to the point, their students brace themselves for exam results: A Level results are published on Thursday 16^th and (i)GCSE results come out on Thursday 23^rd.

The big news over the summer was that GCSE results in England included the new grades for English Language, English Literature and Maths.

Early in July, students across the UK and the world receive their International Baccalaureate Diploma results. This news, which to them is so important, passes largely unnoticed by the British media, unlike the furore which greets A Level then GCSE results later in the summer.
