Gina’s visit to Oakham School

Gina’s mini Midlands odyssey took her from Uppingham to Oakham School, another traditional, English boarding school, founded in 1584 in the historic market town of Oakham near Rutland Water. As well as A Levels, the school has been offering the IB Diploma for 15 years now, and ca. 25% of its IB candidates achieve 40 points or more!

Academic excellence isn’t all, however; the school has a warm and friendly atmosphere, and fantastic sports provision. Recently an impressive new classroom block has been opened, with light and airy teaching facilities. The school’s location is particularly convenient, being only 5 minutes from Oakham train station, from where there are regular direct trains straight into the international airport of London Stansted.
