As she had already been to Holt three times, most recently for the Welcome Day, she already knew some of the girls who would be in Oakeley House with her. She has a really lovely roommate and has already made lots of new friends. The boys seem nice too, which is obviously important at this age. 😉

Academically, she has lots to do, particularly in Maths and Physics, but I think she’ll manage. We’ll see how the next few weeks go. She likes most of her teachers and her tutor is great.

She’s really got stuck in with the hockey already; playing for the 1st XI she has lots of training and two practice matches each week. She is having to learn to get organised with prep time etc. to get everything done.

She’s always positive on the phone, no complaining and no time for homesickness. Not that I’d expect it because she has been away for several weeks several times already, most recently at Whitgift, which I think was really good preparation – she wasn’t anxious about going at all. She got an Excellence Award during Science Week there, which was obviously really good for her self-confidence.

She is pleased there are a few other Germans at Gresham’s, so she has them to travel with next week when they head home for half term.

All in all, it’s been a really good start and I’m so happy for her.
