Short-term immersion programmes at British Boarding Schools

We understand that not everyone wants to commit to completing their education at an English boarding school. Therefore, recent news from Rossall School about their short stay option this summer is a welcome addition to our portfolio.

The Rossall immersion programme is designed to offer young people aged 14-17 a fun, engaging and comprehensive experience of life in a traditional boarding school in England. Delivered over the final five weeks of the school year, students will be placed in groups with others of a similar English level, to study subjects including English, Maths, Science, Geography, History and Art. The rest of the time they will be fully integrated, providing a wonderful opportunity to enhance their English outside the classroom. The students will live in the same boarding houses as their British peers, and share combined activity, social and leisure times, including weekends consisting of further sports/activities, recreational and cultural excursions.

This latest opportunity adds to those already offered by several other schools. For many years, Fyling Hall School has welcomed international students to its enviable location on the North Yorkshire coast for the summer term, to become part of its boarding family, actively encouraged to integrate in all areas of school life and cultural experiences.

Similarly, Warminster School has been offering its 5-Week Immersive Programme to international pupils for over 10 years. This one includes all lessons, sport and co-curricular activities with current pupils, full integration in the boarding houses, weekend trips, including a visit to nearby Stonehenge, as well as a certificate and pupil school report on achievement at the end of their stay.

Meanwhile, on the beautiful Isle of Man, King William’s College offers a 3-week boarding school experience, providing intensive English tuition, with a range of other academic subjects, and total immersion into the school community. Designed to offer a taste of boarding school life, so students can discover if they would enjoy studying away from home longer term, the academic element is complemented by a full leisure programme of sports, activities and excursions.

There are differing admission requirements for each of these programmes, so the advice of an English boarding school consultant is key to placing your child in the right one. Please contact us to find out more.
