Gina’s visit to Malvern College

Gina’s day visiting British boarding schools in England’s West Midlands concluded with Malvern College.

Set in a lovely location on the slopes of the Malvern Hills close to the town of Great Malvern and overlooking the Severn Valley, College has around 650 pupils, of whom approximately 80% board and around 50% are international.

Academic

IB and A Levels taught in the Sixth Form, with impressive academic results year on year. Also in the Sixth Form, there is a strong tutor system in which students can choose their own tutor.

Boarding

Boarding houses play an important role in the strong pastoral care of the school, with pupils dining in their boarding houses. That said, a brand-new Café opened recently, which is popular with students and staff alike!

Sport

Sport is impressive at Malvern, with a long tradition in rackets and cricket. A new Sports Complex includes a swimming pool, climbing wall, sports hall and gym.

Creative Arts

The strong Art programme offers painting, drawing, ceramics, sculpture, printmaking, photography and Design Technology, allowing pupils to work in a very wide range of mediums. Meanwhile, over 300 individual music lessons are taught each week in the large and popular Music School, and the beautiful, refurbished theatre reopened in 2019. Pupils of all ages are involved in school productions, year group productions, as well as festivals and competitions.
