CCF honour for Wellington School pupil

The Combined Cadet Force (CCF) is a Ministry of Defence sponsored youth organisation in the United Kingdom. Each CCF is an educational partnership between a school and the Ministry of Defence, and may include Royal Navy, Royal Marines, Army or Royal Air Force sections.

Many of the British boarding schools we recommend are active within the CCF, as it provides students with a myriad of opportunities outside the classroom but within disciplined structures.

Recently we heard that a Wellington School pupil has been selected to be one of this year’s Lord Lieutenant Cadets for Somerset, supporting the county’s current Lord Lieutenant, Anne Maw. This prestigious award is given to just six top cadets from all branches of the CCF in the county. They are chosen on merit, as well as their dedication and work within the local community. Headmaster of Wellington School, Henry Price, commented: “I am absolutely delighted for Lucy. It is a great honour for her and a reflection of the highly regarded stature of our CCF.”

Lucy, who is in the Air Force cadets at Wellington School, has already taken part in her first Royal Engagement, when she accompanied HRH Sophie, The Countess of Wessex, together with the Lord Lieutenant of Somerset, on her visit to the opening of a nearby school.

Over the course of the coming year Lucy will be called on to assist the Lord Lieutenant on other Royal visits, as well as acting as an ambassador for the Air Force cadets and the young people of Somerset.

If you think your child(ren) would enjoy CCF activities as part of their British education, contact us so we can help you find the right school for them.
