Boys’ boarding at Westonbirt

Westonbirt has always been a fantastic option for girls seeking a truly traditional British boarding school experience. Set within a stately home rumoured to be the most expensive built during Victorian times, the school is surrounded by 210 acres of beautiful gardens and landscaped parkland in the heart of the Cotswolds and has to be seen to be believed. Following its recent transition to coeducation, and with 40% of Key Stage 3 made up of boys, Westonbirt launched boys’ boarding in September 2021, so that same experience is now available to all children.

Pupils in years 7-11 share dorms within the main house, enjoying wonderful views across the grounds; the boys in Badminton House and the girls in Dorchester and Beaufort Houses. Individual dorm spaces can be customised with pictures and personal effects, and each house has a cosy common room where students can enjoy movie nights and social time once prep is complete.

In Sixth Form, students each get their own university-style study bedroom in a separate boarding house with communal areas including a café, study hub, common rooms and kitchen areas. They also have free access to the school’s facilities, such as music rehearsal spaces, art and photography studios, the fitness suite, swimming pool and golf course.

Boarding is especially popular at this stage of the students’ school life. They enjoy the academic benefits of studying with others in a collegiate environment, as well as the all-important social aspect. Balls, parties and other socials are arranged by the boarders themselves with the support of boarding staff, so there is no shortage of quality downtime, all within a safe environment.

We are delighted to be able to recommend Westonbirt to boys, as well as girls preferring a coeducational setting, so please contact us if you think it might be the right boarding school in England for your daughter or son.
