Felsted Prep's Science Award

Felsted Preparatory School’s Science Department is proud to have been awarded a Primary Science Quality Mark Gold Award. According to the assessors, “the Science Department’s passion for teaching is very evident” and “the range of opportunities both within the school day and in extracurricular ventures is excellent… Having specialised staff has enabled the school to develop initiatives and projects beyond the scope of most primary schools.”

In 2014 the Time Educational Supplement also judged Felsted Preparatory School to be in the top 3 of all schools nationally in Science. Speaking about the achievement, Headmistress of the Preparatory School, Jenny Burrett, said: “These two recent quite extraordinary achievements tell of inspiring teaching and opportunities. We are hugely proud! Felsted is committed to self-evaluation and these awards are further confirmation of our excellent inspection results. We can never be complacent.

Felsted is an independent, co-educational, boarding and day school for pupils aged 4-18, so this excellence in Science teaching at Primary level sets children up well for their future studies in the Senior School. Offering both A Levels and the IB after GCSEs, this is a school that produces excellent academic results but also has a well-rounded sporting, artistic and co-curricular offering. With nearly 85% of students boarding, Felsted also prides itself on its pastoral care – after all, children have to feel happy and safe before they can achieve their full potential.
