At a glance

Academic
The English system of GCSEs is offered, followed by A Levels alongside Scottish Highers in the Sixth Form, when 21 subjects are offered. All pupils are assigned to a house and a linked tutor oversees academic work, helping strike the right balance with other activities. The School’s ethos of continuous development and support can be seen in the system of merits and distinctions and in the academic clinics provided for those who need help. On average over 46% of A Level candidates achieve A*/A.

Boarding
From Year 10 all pupils in the 7 modern boarding houses have single study bedrooms. Day and boarding pupils are fully integrated and each house is presided over by a residential housemaster/mistress. Supported by a team of academic tutors they are responsible for the pastoral care, support and encouragement of each child. New pupils are assigned a buddy as they settle in and a wide range of inter-house competitions gives all pupils the chance to represent their house.

Sports
Pupils at Strathallan gain an understanding of the benefits of exercise and the skills to enjoy participation, and fixtures at all levels ensure everyone gets a chance. A talented athlete programme alongside cricket and rugby academies supports elite athletes, whilst facilities include a sports centre, a multisports/training hall, a strength and conditioning centre, 2 floodlit Astroturfs, 9 Astroturf and 3 indoor tennis courts, 2 squash courts, rifle and trap shooting ranges and a golf course.

Creative arts
The Art School offers Painting, Drawing, Ceramics, Sculpture and Print-Making whilst 3D printers have enhanced the Design Technology Centre’s facilities. Over half of pupils have Music lessons and a range of ensembles provides opportunities to perform, whilst the choral scholars programme has links to Perth Cathedral. A Dance & Drama studio opened in 2016 and the upgraded School theatre enables the Arts to come together in theatrical productions and the much anticipated annual Musical.
