Academic

Academic excellence is achieved through inspirational, dedicated teaching from experts in their field who go the extra mile with mentoring and support. The school offers any combination of subjects at A Level, enhanced by a range of enrichment activities. On average around a third of A Level candidates achieve A*-A and two thirds achieve A*-B. Russell Group Universities are popular leavers’ destinations. Value added performance is strong at GCSE with the school in the top 7% of schools in the UK.

Boarding

The Kent College boarding community is thriving and welcoming, where girls make friendships across year groups and cultures. Dedicated teams of staff who live on-site with their families run the boarding house; girls share rooms until the final year when the school aims to provide single study bedrooms. Weekends and evenings are busy and activities are plentiful; amongst many others, the girls enjoy cinema evenings, charity balls, trips to London and ice skating.

Sports

Kent College’s sports department is impressive with outstanding facilities that include a new indoor 25 metre swimming pool, two sports halls, an all-weather pitch and fitness suite to cater for high demand. Athletics and hockey are to a national standard and competitive success is achieved across all sports, yet the approach is inclusive with choice for all abilities. Sport and Wellbeing afternoons enable girls to take part in a wide range of extra-curricular activities.

Creative arts

Whole school productions such as Sweeney Todd and Six The Musical are held in the 250-seat Countess of Wessex theatre, alongside smaller set-piece productions in the studio theatre. The girls produce outstanding work in the Arts Centre where screen printing, photography, textiles and costume design are very popular. The purpose-built Music Centre includes a recording studio and Mac suite, and outside the classroom there is a range of orchestras, choirs and ensembles to join.
