Academic
Haileybury is a community that fosters a love of learning and a desire to explore new boundaries and ideas. New pupils are assigned a house tutor, all of whom are full-time teachers and 90% of whom live on site, providing a priceless crossover between pupils' academic and extra-curricular lives. Tutors support and guide their tutees in taking on new challenges and in balancing work and activities. Almost half of A Level candidates achieve A*/A whilst the average IB score is over 36.

Boarding
There is a dedicated junior boarding house for Years 7 and 8, after which pupils move on to one of 12 senior houses where they stay through to Year 13. Each house is home to 50-70 pupils and is run by a housemaster/mistress, or HM, who works closely with the house tutors. The HM is a pupil's surrogate parent and has absolute responsibility for the wellbeing of the pupils in their care. From sharing rooms in the early years as friends are made most pupils have single study bedrooms by Year 13.

Sports
Alongside extensive playing fields the impressive facilities include a modern sports centre, 2 sand-dressed all-weather pitches, a 25m swimming pool, 2 squash courts, a tennis centre with 4 indoor and 8 outdoor courts, a climbing wall and a refurbished rackets court. The teaching staff are led by ex-professional and elite-amateur coaches and a High Performance Programme caters for top performers. Other sports available include archery, athletics, cross-country, rowing, golf and sailing.

Creative arts
The Art department has plenty of studio space with facilities for print-making, ceramics, photography, painting, pottery, drawing and sculpture. The fully-equipped Ayckbourn theatre provides a great setting for the termly drama production and the Theatre Technical Unit offers behind the scenes experience. The recently extended Music Centre has a recording studio and 25 Sibelius/Cubase workstations whilst the 6 choirs and numerous ensembles offer plenty of opportunity to perform.
