Founded in 1855 to provide education to the sons of doctors, Epsom College sits in a beautiful 84 acre estate just 15 miles from central London. Academic

With its medical heritage, the College has a worldwide reputation for excellence in the Sciences, which now extends to all areas of its broad academic curriculum. 24 subjects are offered at A Level/Pre-U alongside the College’s Core curriculum which helps develop the skills and experience in demand by today’s universities and employers. Added value performance is strong and on average over 50% of A Level candidates achieve A*/A, with the same proportion going on to Russell Group universities.

Overall responsibility for boarders lies with the housemaster/mistress who lives in-house with his or her family, creating a warm, homely and supportive atmosphere. Each student is assigned to one of the experienced team of residential house tutors who oversees their school careers. A continuous refurbishment programme ensures that the facilities are first rate, whilst the huge range of extra-curricular activities includes themed dinner parties, theatre visits and trips to London at weekends.

With inclusion and participation as underlying principles Epsom has an enviable reputation for sporting excellence, and every pupil is given the opportunity to test him or herself in competitive environments. With 25 sports on offer, excellent facilities, extensive structured coaching and visiting professional and elite amateur athletes and specialists, all the elements are in place to help pupils fulfil their potential, which their achievements show they do at all levels of competition.

Creative arts

The Creative Arts are core to the total curriculum and around 50% of pupils have music lessons, whilst the wonderful acoustics of Big School, a refurbished Victorian Gothic Hall, play host to a wide-range of productions, including a major musical. The Art School has studios for screen printing and pottery along with 2 printing presses, whilst the Design & Technology department has extensive CAM and CAD equipment and a hot metals work area. Two modern studios host an impressive range of dance activities.
