Overview
Founded in 1699, Sidcot is a thriving co-educational boarding and day school situated in an area of outstanding natural beauty in Somerset, close to Bristol and Bath, and only a 2 hour train ride from London. Sidcot uses a progressive approach to spark children’s imagination, building the skills they will require to get the most out of their education. Sidcot is, above all, a happy school community where students live and learn together.

Academic
Sidcot’s teaching methods are designed to harness children’s natural intellectual curiosity and to encourage independent thinking and creativity, rather than just to train them to pass tests. The School offers A Levels, the IB Diploma, a 2-year GCSE programme and the Year 11 Pathway 1-year GCSE course. It has an enviable reputation in the Creative Arts, the Sciences and in Maths, with results that outstrip national and world averages, and typically nearly half of students go on to Russell Group Universities.
Boarding
Sidcot’s friendly, family community provides a truly British boarding school experience. There are 5 boarding houses, each of which has full Wifi access, a comfortable common room and a kitchen for students. The boarding staff are experts in helping international students adjust to life in a British boarding school and do everything they can to help them settle in quickly. Food is a focus at Sidcot, with a high quality diet that is balanced, healthy and full of fresh local ingredients.
Sports
Pupils are encouraged to have a go at everything, and all get to be part of a team. The range of sports includes golf, fencing, water polo, basketball, and even circus skills! There is a busy local competitive fixture list whilst elite students compete at county, national and international level. Facilities include a 25m swimming pool, 4 tennis courts, a full-size all-weather pitch and a thriving equestrian yard at the heart of the School for both beginners and the highly successful school team.
Creative arts
The Arts Centre is itself a work of art, beautifully designed and buzzing with creative energy, and was awarded Artsmark Gold in recognition of its beacon status. Arts are a very popular choice with students, who gain impressive results, and there’s plenty on offer outside the curriculum, including music lessons, bands, choirs, and a variety of musical and theatrical productions. Sidcot has a travelling theatre company ‘Hurly Burly’ which wowed audiences and gained 4 star reviews at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
