MSJ provides the stimulus needed to develop each student’s creative thinking and learning abilities to the full, and offers an enviable range of academic and non-academic enrichment opportunities. The MSJ Aspiration programme stretches girls beyond the classroom, and focuses on preparation for the most sought-after universities in the world. On average over 55% gain A*/A at A Level. Also offered is the UK’s Extended Project Qualification and SAT preparation for entry to US universities.

Boarding

MSJ’s boarding provision is distinctive, enhanced by an exceptional team of dedicated house staff. Girls find a warm welcome in each of the 5 boarding houses and soon settle into the loving family community, where weekends are filled with exciting activities. In the Sixth Form houses, girls are encouraged to be independent in preparation for university life; for example there are 4 dedicated kitchens where girls are able to cook some meals.

Sports

At MSJ, sport helps forge ambition, motivates girls to take pride in themselves and their team and enhances self-belief. The sports facilities are committed to girls’ sports and offer specialist, first-class training opportunities. Representative teams compete in all the major sports and many girls compete in hockey, netball and lacrosse at county, regional, national and international level. The huge variety of sports on offer includes horse riding, kayaking, archery and trampolining.

Creative arts

The Arts are a vital component of a balanced curriculum and the Artsmark Gold Award demonstrates the school’s commitment in this area. Classes in painting and drawing, printmaking, ceramics, textiles, CAD and photography are taught in specialist studios. The dedicated Music Centre houses one of the best-resourced Music departments in central England. Speech and drama lessons are also available, in which girls work towards LAMDA exams, competitions and festivals.
