Kingswood seeks to challenge its pupils, encouraging independent thought and intellectual achievement. Tutors are responsible for academic development, co-curricular activities and pastoral welfare, meeting with tutees as a group on a weekly basis along with regular one-to-one sessions. The School is in the top 5% in the country for added value, typically over half of candidates achieve A*/A at A Level and over 80% of leavers gain entry into Russell Group universities.

Boarding

A third of pupils board and each of the 7 houses is run by an experienced team consisting of a resident housemaster/mistress, an assistant, matrons and a team of tutors who together create a happy and relaxed environment. Day pupils are fully integrated into the houses and international students from over 15 countries are currently welcomed. Co-curricular activities vary from jewellery club to street dance, whilst weekend activities range from camping trips to an inter-house music competition.

Sports

There are regular fixtures with other leading schools in the region and the very high standard is balanced by running 3 teams in most major sports, ensuring that all students can be encouraged to participate and excel, whatever their level. Facilities include 2 floodlit Astroturfs, a climbing wall and an indoor swimming pool whilst other sports offered include football, squash, tennis, golf and rowing. There are excellent links with professional or elite amateur sports clubs in nearby Bath.

Creative arts

The Art & DT facilities include specialist areas for all media, from sculpture to photography and 3D CAD to furniture design. Pupils are encouraged to get involved in music and drama through extra-curricular clubs, whilst industry professionals run masterclasses and in alternate years a major musical is held in the 366 seat theatre. Almost 200 pupils learn a musical instrument, there are regular opportunities to perform and school musicians launch the annual International Bath Music Festival.
