As a member of the TASIS family of international schools founded by Mary Crist Fleming, the School’s approach is to prepare pupils for American universities whilst immersing them in a range of cultures and languages. Academic

TASIS England offers both the IB Diploma and the American curriculum, with around 20 Advanced Placement (AP) course options alongside an extensive EAL programme. A supportive learning environment encourages students to fulfil their potential and on average IB students achieve 33 points, with 30% receiving bi-lingual diplomas. Individual counselling is given to students for university applications, and many progress to UK Russell Group universities as well as to their US counterparts.

Boarding

Boarding is offered for students aged 14-18 in friendly dormitories housed in a mixture of modern and historic buildings. Dormitory Parents oversee each residence, offering care and support to pupils and prioritising their welfare. All boarders share a room with a different mother-tongue speaker to encourage English language skills. Activities include film nights, robotics club and gardening, whilst theatre and shopping trips, mountain biking and hiking are popular at weekends.

Sports

Participation in Sport is encouraged, with enjoyment, skill acquisition and good sportsmanship valued equally. The school’s diverse programme includes football, volleyball, cheerleading and lacrosse, with teams competing both against other UK schools and in international school tournaments. Experienced faculty staff are complemented by external coaches and instructors who enhance the offering. As well as playing fields, facilities include 2 gymnasiums, a fitness centre and tennis courts.

Creative arts

The Art Department offers drawing, painting, photography, ceramics, print-making and sculpture, with students’ work showcased in the Fleming Gallery. Over 270 choral or instrumental private music lessons are taken each week, and opportunities to perform range from lower school assemblies to full choral or instrumental concerts. The 300 seat Fleming theatre with its professional sound and lighting rig hosts 4 major productions each year as well as multiple music concerts and dance performances.
