August update

August can seem a funny month in education. Some of the British boarding schools we work with are closed altogether, with just a skeleton staff in place to handle enquiries and, in some cases, host events, while others are abuzz with summer schools welcoming children from all over the world. At this point in the month, however, it starts to feel like business as usual, as the schools and, more to the point, their students brace themselves for exam results: A Level results are published on Thursday 16th and (i)GCSE results come out on Thursday 23rd.

IB diploma students got any results-related stress out of the way in advance of the summer holidays, as their results were published in early July. The worldwide average score for IB students is 30 points out of a possible 45 and we’ve been delighted to learn that this was exceeded by this year’s cohort at King Edward’s School Witley, King William’s College, Oakham School and The Royal High School Bath, amongst a good number of our other partner schools. With the IB garnering respect from leading universities, students from these schools were able to start their summer secure in the knowledge of places at Oxford, Cambridge and other Russell Group establishments.

Well done to the successful IB graduates and good luck to all those nervously awaiting results this week and next!
